Visegrád

Situated in the picturesque Danube Valley, Visegrád is a wonderful Hungarian town rich in history and charm. Although it is part of the Pest region and not Nógrád, it is a gem that attracts visitors with its medieval atmosphere and breathtaking views. The town is famous for its imposing castle that overlooks the Danube, offering spectacular views of the river's bends and the surrounding landscapes.

The Royal Castle of Visegrád, dating back to the 13th century, is one of the main attractions. Here you can explore ancient ruins, immerse yourself in the history of Hungarian kings, and imagine the court life of times gone by. During the summer, the town comes alive with historical reenactments and costume festivals that revive the ancient glory of the Hungarian court.

In addition to the castle, visitors can stroll along the Solomon Path with the opportunity to discover the Solomon Tower, one of the most recognizable medieval structures in the region. The area also offers some spectacular hikes, with trails winding through green hills and lush forests, perfect for nature lovers and hikers.

The local cuisine should not be overlooked: after a day of sightseeing, you can relax in one of the many restaurants in the center, savoring traditional Hungarian dishes, perhaps accompanied by a good glass of Tokaji wine. Finally, staying in Visegrád also means enjoying a warm welcome in cozy bed & breakfasts or in hotels nestled in greenery, just steps away from history and nature. The town is perfect for a romantic getaway or a relaxing weekend away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
