History
The Rudas Thermal Bath was founded in 1571 during the Ottoman period, commissioned by Sokollu Mustafa Pasha, governor of Buda from 1566 to 1578. The structure was designed in Ottoman style, featuring a dome supported by eight columns and an octagonal pool at the center. In 1566, the structure was expanded by Sokollu Mehmed Pasha, nephew of Grand Vizier Sokollu Mehmed Pasha, following the dimensions and design of other monumental Ottoman constructions in Istanbul. In 1896, a swimming pool and sauna were added. After a complete renovation, the bath reopened in early 2006, preserving the original architectural elements and introducing new facilities for the visitors' well-being.
